New York, I Love You Trailer: New York, I Just Met You
Tagline: "The city that never sleeps never michigan dreaming."
Translation: If I, Brett Ratner, can make it there, I'll make it an-y-where!
The Verdict: "That's one of the things I love best around New York," Julie Christie says in the prevue for the second film in the anthology series that began with Paris, Je T'Aime. "Everyone came from somewhere else." Including the directors and stars of New York, I Love You! Casting a bunch of non-Parisians in short films directed by, say, Alexander Payne power have worked wonderfully in Paris, merely here in New York we're a little pricklier about world Health Organization tells our stories. What, exactly, do Maggie Q, Rachel Bilson, Shia LaBeouf, and Brett Ratner accept to say about this city that a cluster of New Yorkbased actors and directors couldn't hold come up with? We guess we're glad that Eli Wallach, Natalie Portman, and Olivia Thirlby ar involved, merely this trailer's constant, wet refrain "New York's not such a big place!" "God, I love New York!" reminds us sorely of a bunch of tourists erratic around Times Square.

DAVID BERGER OCTET
Perhaps because he fled Tin Pan Alley for Hollywood in the early 30s, Harry Warren is one of the Great American Songbooks least long-familiar contributors. But what contributions, as New York bandleader/arranger Berger, his nimbly soulful octet, and the magisterial playing of reedmen Harry Allen and Joe Temperly make plain. Bouncing and swinging its way through such tunes as Youll Never Know, Boulevard of Broken Dreams and Serenade in Blue, Bergers band brings Warrens music vividly back to life for a new generation - a favor to both Warren and jazz fans everywhere.

Hastily-called hearing held in Spears custody case
An unscheduled hearing in the Britney Spears custody case Friday yielded no change in the arrangement between the pop star and ex-husband Kevin Federline.
The hearing was closed and all documents were ordered sealed until a hearing later this month. A court spokeswoman says no rulings were made.
Spears' attorney declined to comment after they concluded Friday. Mark Kaplan, an attorney representing Spears' husband, Kevin Federline, attended the hearing via speakerphone.
Neither Spears nor Federline appeared.
Last month, a court commissioner granted Spears expanded visitation with her children. Federline took control of the toddlers after several highly publicized instances of erratic behavior by the 26-year-old singer.

Jerry Hall - Halls Son Imposes Boyfriend Ban
Former supermodel JERRY HALL's youngest son is so protective of her, he has banned her from having a boyfriend.
The Texan beauty, 51, admits 10-year-old Gabriel - from her marriage to rocker Sir Mick Jagger - is sickened by the thought of his mother bringing someone home, and has even threatened suicide to persuade her to continue to live her life as a single mother.
She says, "Gabriel gets very angry with me if I work too much. And he absolutely hates the idea of me having a boyfriend. He says, 'If you get a boyfriend, I will kill myself.'
"I say to him, 'But darling, you will grow up and get married one day and it would be nice for Mum to have some company.' And he says, 'No Mum, I am never going to leave you.' But that's what boys are like, isn't it?"
And Hall insists she's in no rush to marry again, because she's happy on her own: "I think having a partner is a bonus, but I don't think it's a necessity. I've always had my own money and worked and looked after myself.
"I do see people and have dates and I think love is a wonderful thing, but that hasn't really happened to me. I haven't fallen in love. Maybe it will happen one day. But I think it would probably be idiotic to marry again. I seems to me that you do that when you want to have children. And I've had mine."
Hall has three other children with ex-husband Jagger: Elizabeth, 24; James, 22, and Georgia, 16. The couple split in 1999.

Costello's Beautiful, says Blunt
IF British crooner James Blunt thinks You're Beautiful - not to mention loves your voice - it's pretty likely your singing career is going to hit a high note. Such is the prime position Sydney model-turned-muso Kate Costello has found herself in after she was introduced to the chart-topping Romeo last week. Just weeks after leaving Vivien's Model Management to focus on her career as a music performer, the 20-year-old blonde had the good fortune to be introduced to Blunt by a friend. Currently touring Australia in promotion of his latest album All The Lost Souls, Blunt - whose way with the ladies is just that - was apparently quite taken with Costello after the pair met in Melbourne. Not missing a beat, the self-taught guitarist, singer and songwriter managed to slip Blunt a demo of her recordings - and the hirsute hottie was impressed. After attending Blunt's show at the Rod Laver Arena, the singers enjoyed a dinner together, but the English casanova didn't leave Costello with Goodbye My Lover. Instead, he found some time in his tight touring schedule to introduce Costello to music executives at his record label Warner Music, Confidential understands. "We haven't heard Kate's music yet but James is obviously an exceptional talent and his opinion is held in high regard," a Warner Music spokeswoman said yesterday. While Blunt performs in Perth this weekend, Costello has scored her first live gig at Darlinghurst venue Ruby Rabbit on Saturday night, playing at a party hosted by the club's part-owner Shane Moran.

Ben Affleck - Affleck Hated Jlo Video
Hollywood actor BEN AFFLECK regrets starring in ex-fiancee JENNIFER LOPEZ's music video - because it nearly ruined his career.
Affleck, 35, began dating the Latina singer in 2002 and later that year, he made a cameo in her music video Jenny From The Block. In the promo, the actor can be seen rubbing sun tan lotion onto Lopez's bottom.
In the following years, the couple's high-profile romance proceeded to cross over from the tabloids onto the big screen, culminating in the 2003 box office flop Gigli.
And the Pearl Harbor star is now convinced bringing his personal life into the spotlight was damaging to his career.
He says, "If I have a big regret, it was doing the music video. But that happened years ago. I've moved on."
But Affleck insists he isn't blaming Lopez for his career nosedive: "It not only makes me look like a petulant fool (to blame Lopez), but it surely qualifies as ungentlemanly? For the record, did she hurt my career? No."
The pair became engaged in 2002 but called off their relationship in 2003.

'Untraceable' tracks sales victory
But comedy 'Mad Money' makes off with rental win
"Untraceable," which grossed $28.7 million at the boxoffice, narrowly topped the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart for the week, with "The Great Debaters," a Weinstein drama from Genius Products, at No. 2.
Excitement over the upcoming "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" put all three previous films in the franchise back into the First Alert top 20, both individually and as part of the "Adventures of Indiana Jones" boxed set, which debuted at No. 3. The set finished just ahead of "Mad Money," which came in at No. 4.
In rental stores, "Mad Money" generated an estimated $7.3 million in revenue to take the top slot on Home Media Magazine's video rental chart for the week. "Untraceable" bowed at No. 2 with earnings estimated at $6.9 million. Warner's "P.S. I Love You," the previous week's top renter, slipped to No. 3 with $5.9 million, while "Debaters" debuted at No. 4 with $5.5 million.
Disney's "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" was the week's top Blu-ray Disc seller, most likely because of the theatrical opening of the fantasy's sequel, "Prince Caspian." "Untraceable" debuted at No. 2.
